Ad-Builder Lite

I worked as an Associate Product Manager at Kargo - a mobile advertising company based in New York. 

For my first and main project, I took ownership of a new and unbuilt tool. The need: create an easy-to-use tool for our designers to create video advertisements that is faster and easier than what they use now. 

The result: Ad Builder Lite - an efficient and simple tool that allowed both internal designers and external customers to easily create and ship video advertisements. 

About Kargo

Kargo is a mobile-first advertising company that creates innovative campaigns for over 200 of the world's best-known brands. They advertise across mobile, video, and social with an emphasis on good user experience. 

Kargo operates with an in-house design team that personally designs and produces every ad. 

My Role

Product Manager

I took complete ownership of the project as the sole product manager. I oversaw the entire process beginning with competitive analysis, and ending with our product launch. Originally intended as an internal tool, Ad Builder Lite proved to be so simple to use that Kargo soon began introducing it to customers as a consumer-facing tool. 

My Product Development Process

Product: Ad Builder Lite

Named Ad Builder Lite to convey ease of use, the interface allowed the user to build their mobile video ads in real-time with a preview so that they could understand how the ad would be rendered and appear on a phone.   

As users added content - background image, video, logo image, copy, and call-to-action button - the phone image would populate giving them immediate feedback on how their ad would look and behave to those who would see it. After which, the user could control audience and ship the ad.

Result

Originally intended as an internal tool for our in-house ad designers, Ad Builder Lite proved to be an outsized success. Our internal team was able to much more efficiently ship video ads which increased Kargo's output and revenue. The tool proved so easy to use that Kargo began to test and roll out Ad Builder Lite to customers directly.
